Centre for Health Care Innovation - The Alfred Hospital - Melbourne, Victoria

A joint venture between Bayside Health, La Trobe University and Monash University to establish a new Centre for Health Innovation based at the Alfred Hospital. This project developed a number of simulated teaching facilities that included a major Operating Theatre, Casualty Department, Procedures Theatre, Four Bed Nursing Ward, Clinical Skills Lab, Human Factors Lab, Debriefing Rooms, Observation and Control Rooms, Administration and IT facilities.

This new facility is one of a limited number of such centres in Australia and is designed to provide high fidelity simulation of various medical scenarios for advanced training of medical staff. The centre utilises state of the art audio visual playback and archiving technology and the two principal theatres use advanced mannequins that are operated from control rooms and simulate medical scenarios via operators controlling the computer simulations.
